About
Fundación Tosepan A.C. was founded by the Unión de Cooperativas Tosepan, a cooperative movement driven by Indigenous families of the Sierra Nororiental de Puebla that emerged in 1977 with the formation of the Sociedad Cooperativa Agropecuaria Regional "Tosepan Titataniske" (United We Will Overcome, in Náhuat).
This was the first cooperative established to find solutions to the high cost of basic goods and the crop-brokering practices that left farming families vulnerable and unjustly treated. After 49 years of continuous work, this Indigenous cooperative movement brings together more than 53,000 families and has founded 10 cooperatives and two civil associations, including Fundación Tosepan A.C., each with specific functions oriented toward the sustainable development of families.
Fundación Tosepan A.C. contributes to the good-life projects of organized peoples across the Sierra Nororiental de Puebla and other regions with shared goals and dreams, advancing strategies in education, health, housing, land management, and biocultural heritage stewardship, and strengthening self-management capacities and the self-determination processes of the peoples it serves.

HF Partnership
Through the collaboration with the Honnold Foundation, Fundación Tosepan A.C. will work to consolidate a model of community energy autonomy in the Sierra Nororiental de Puebla, guaranteeing reliable access to clean energy in strategic spaces such as a community radio station, a basic-level educational center, and 20 rural households.
This partnership will strengthen local technical capacities, reduce energy poverty, and advance toward a just energy transition that can be replicated in other Indigenous and farming communities. The organization's goal is to support the construction of Sustainable Rural Energy Systems (SERS) to meet the domestic and productive needs of the rural and Indigenous areas of the Sierra Nororiental de Puebla.
